Details Released On Deadly Deputy-Involved Shooting In Brevard County

(Titusville, FL) -- New video gives us a glimpse into what led up to a deadly deputy-involved shooting in Brevard County.  The sheriff's office yesterday released dash cam video of the shooting last week in Cocoa that killed an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old, who were in what is believed to be a stolen car. Sheriff Wayne Ivey says in the video, a deputy can be heard repeatedly ordering the teens to stop, but when the car accelerates toward the deputy, he fires at the car to protect himself. The two deputies involved are on leave, and the FDLE is investigating. 

Mom Arrested For Leaving Baby On Doorstep In Volusia County

(DeLand, FL) -- A woman is facing charges after her baby was found on a doorstep in Volusia County. Astor's Melissa Kelly allegedly left the three-month-old boy at a home in Deltona on Sedgefield Ave over the weekend. Investigators say the baby's father is the boyfriend of the daughter of a woman who lives at the home. The baby was handed over to DCF, and the 33-year-old Kelly was arrested on charges that include unlawful desertion of a child. 

Florida AG Warns Of COVID-19 Texting Scam

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody is issuing a new COVID-19 Consumer Alert. Moody says scammers are using text messages to impersonate the IRS and trick people into giving up banking information. The text says the recipient will receive a 12-hundred-dollar stimulus check and directs them to a fake phishing link. Moody says anyone who receives the text should send a screenshot of the message to the real IRS.

Argument Leads To Arrest Of Amazon Employee With Gun At Jacksonville Facility

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Another incident involving an Amazon employee with a gun occurred at the Jacksonville fulfillment center. An off-duty FHP trooper and another employee were working security at the facility when they noticed 56-year-old Harry Patterson had a gun on him. An argument occurred after employees noticed Patterson acting erratically and a manager asked him to take a random drug test. The trooper wrestled Patterson to the ground before taking him into custody for battery. Two people have been shot and killed at the fulfillment center this year in two unrelated incidents.

St. Pete Leaders Gather To Denounce Violence

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- Those fed up with violence in St. Petersburg are urged to take back their city. That's what Reverend Louis Murphy said yesterday at a vigil honoring the nine people killed this year by gun violence in St. Pete. The vigil was held on 18th Ave South where a 26-year-old man was shot to death over the weekend. City Council member Deborah Figgs-Sanders said of the violence enough is enough, and Mayor Rick Kriseman said we're better than this as a community. 

Former Broward Sheriff Running For Police Chief

(Bay Harbor Islands, FL) -- Scott Israel is making another attempt to revive his law enforcement career. The former Broward County sheriff is a finalist to be police chief in Bay Harbor Islands in Miami-Dade County. Israel was removed as sheriff last year following the Parkland school shooting in 2018, and he ran, unsuccessfully, to reclaim the job three months ago. Local 10 News reports Israel is one of three finalists for the chief's job. 

New Zoom Feature To Allow Kicking "Zoombombers" Out

(San Jose, CA) -- Zoombombers beware, there is a new way for zoom users to keep you from causing trouble! The company announced a new feature that pauses a meeting so you can kick out disruptive individuals. Zoom has also added other features in recent months to prevent unwanted intrusions, including turning waiting rooms on by default for many accounts.
