(Undated) -- The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is the most active ever. It now has a record-breaking 29th storm, and there's still three weeks to go. This beats 28 named storms in 2005, the year Hurricane Katrina hit. Before that, the most active season was 20 storms back in 1933.
Tropical Storm Watch In Effect For Portions Of Florida's West Coast
(Undated) -- A tropical storm watch is in effect for some of Florida's west coast. Tropical Storm Eta is forecast to make a second run at the state after hitting South Florida for the past few days, flooding some neighborhoods. The National Hurricane Center expects Eta to move parallel to Florida's west coast, but stay offshore.
Two Arrested In String Of Central Florida Business Burglaries
(Orange County, FL) -- Two suspects are in custody in connection with a string of business burglaries in Central Florida. Thirty-four-year-old Jerry Mitchell and 33-year-old Ledarius Jones are facing several charges, including burglary for the thefts at 19 businesses dating back to January. The businesses include electronic stores, gun shops, and medical marijuana stores. Police say more than 250-thousand-dollars' worth of items were stolen during the burglaries. Mitchell was arrested yesterday. Jones was already jailed on an unrelated crime.
Tallahassee City Commission Creates Crisis Team
(Tallahassee, FL) -- The Tallahassee City Commission is moving forward with plans to create a crisis team. The three-person team will focus on non-violent mental health-related calls. It will be stationed at TFD Station 1. The city hopes to kick off the pilot program for the new team in the spring of 2021.
Palm Beach County School Board Fires Former Principal Over Holocaust Remarks
(West Palm Beach, FL) -- The Palm Beach County School Board has fired a former Boca Raton school principal over remarks he made two years ago regarding the Holocaust. The school board voted unanimously Tuesday to officially fire William Latson. Latson had told a parent in an email that he could not state that the Holocaust was a factual event because of his position with the district. Latson has said he is not a Holocaust denier.
Key West Scraps Curfew Proposal
(Key West, FL) -- There will be no curfew in Key West. City commissioners held a special meeting today to consider a midnight to 7 a.m. curfew amid a spike in coronavirus cases. But, Mayor Teri Johnston withdrew the proposal after hearing about two hours of testimony against the plan. Opponents say the curfew would place an unfair burden on island businesses.
Drunken Texas Woman Forces Plane To Land Early
(Mobile, AL) -- One drunk Texas woman is facing charges after her behavior allegedly forced a plane to land early. Authorities say 25-year-old Sierra McClinton was already boozed-up when she boarded a CommutAir flight from Jacksonville, Florida to Houston. During the flight, she reportedly threw up on herself, removed her pants in front of everyone, got into an argument with another passenger, and took a swing at a flight attendant. The plane had to land early in Mobile, Alabama, where McClinton was taken off in just her shirt and underwear. She has been charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Whole Foods, Progressive Offering Turkey Insurance

The Amazon-owned grocery store is giving away 35-dollar gift cards to anyone who burns, overcooks, undercooked or drops their bird.
