Teen Arrested After Fatal Shootings At Graduation Party In Rockledge
(Rockledge, FL) -- A 16-year-old is in custody after two people were fatally shot during a graduation party in Rockledge. Police say this happened late Saturday night at the Cocoa Rockledge Garden Club. The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Kenmyree Anderson and 23-year-old Travis Jones.
St. Augustine Council Members To Decide Fate Of Confederate Monument
(St. Augustine, FL) -- The city council in St. Augustine is voting on what to do with the Confederate monument in the Plaza de la Constitucion. Lakeland Considers Face Mask Requirement
(Lakeland, FL) -- Lakeland may become the latest city in the state to require face masks. The Lakeland City Commission will consider adopting a measure for a face mask requirement during a virtual meeting this morning. As of yesterday, health officials report that there are more than two-thousand confirmed coronavirus cases in Polk County. More than a third of those are in Lakeland. The Lakeland City Commission meeting is scheduled at nine this morning.
Miami-Dade Police Will Close Businesses Not Enforcing Guidelines
(Miami, FL)-- Miami-Dade County is cracking down on business owners who fail to meet social distancing and mask guidelines. Police Director Freddy Ramirez says they've already shut down businesses for non-compliance and that is only going to get stricter. Ramirez added that when officers and officials from other county regulatory agencies see companies breaking the rules after talking with management, they will be shut down.
Cruise Industry Association Extends Suspension Of Operations Into September
(Undated) -- The Cruise Lines International Association is extending suspension of activity into September. The organization made the announcement Friday as part of the group's voluntary fight against the coronavirus spread. The suspension is being extended through September 15th. The no-sail order issued originally by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was to have expired on July 24th.
Florida Sees Increase In Background Checks For Gun Purchases

The state has processed over 30-thousand background checks since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on Memorial Day. The number is nearly double the amount reported in the same time period last year.
Petition To Rename Columbus, Ohio "Flavortown" Gaining Steam
(Columbus, OH) -- A new petition is calling for a change to the name of Ohio's capital city. The online petition is looking to another Italian -- Guy Fieri -- to rename the city "Flavortown," in honor of the restaurateur who was born in Columbus. It's an attempt to distance the city from Christopher Columbus. Fieri, who is noted for his charity work including raising more than 20-million dollars for restaurant workers during the pandemic, is more about what the city's about, said Tyler Woodbridge, the starter of the online petition. The online signup had more than 20-thousand signatures Sunday afternoon. The mayor of Columbus, Ohio, has already said it will take down the statue of the Italian explorer outside city hall and place it in storage.
