Business owners and government officials met yesterday to discuss how to help local businesses survive the economic downturn. One option the county is exploring is using millions of dollars from the federal CARES Act to award grants to businesses. County Commissioner Rita Pritchett said input from business owners could be crucial in making sure the grants have as much impact as possible.

Woman Shot To Death By Three-Year-Old
(Jacksonville, FL) -- A child will not face charges for a deadly shooting in Jacksonville. The JSO says a three-year-old boy shot and killed a 25-year-old woman in February at a Grand Park home on Mecca Street she was visiting. Investigators believe the boy got his hands on a gun Angelica Byers kept in her purse and shot her in the face. The JSO recently determined the case was an excusable homicide.
Monroe County Teen Suspected In Violent Attack On Brother And Father
(Miami, FL) -- A teenager is accused of killing his brother and hurting his father in Monroe County. Deputies say 17-year-old Daniel Weisberger stabbed his 14-year-old brother to death and then stabbed his 43-year-old father yesterday in Islamorada. Weisberger's father is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Witnesses say Weisberger then jumped into the path of a truck and was hit, but there's no word on his condition.

Disney Springs Announces Reopening Plans

MegaCon Orlando Canceled
(Orlando, FL) -- Another popular event is falling victim to the coronavirus. Organizers announced yesterday that MegaCon Orlando is canceled for this year. The annual event typically draws over 100-thousand sci-fi and comic book fans, and it was set to take place next month after being postponed from April. An event limited to 25-thousand people may take place Halloween weekend, but there won't be a full MegaCon until March.
Washington State Reports Two COVID-19 Parties
(Olympia, WA) -- Officials in Washington State are suggesting that a couple of new cases of coronavirus are linked to "COVID-19 parties." At these events, attendees deliberately rub shoulders with an infected person so they can catch the illness and get it over with. Two parties have been reported in southeastern Washington leading to at least two known infections. The two people who caught the disease are young and have not needed hospitalization.
