Three Arrested For Bank Fraud In Volusia County

(Port Orange, FL) -- Three men are facing bank fraud charges in Volusia County. Port Orange Police announced yesterday they arrested three men in their 50s from Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The arrests date back to an investigation that started Friday when police got two reports of large amounts of money being withdrawn from bank accounts. Police say the suspects were found with over 20 fake driver's licenses, several personal checks from each victim, credit cards in the victims' names and business checks. The suspects allegedly deposited forged checks into their victim's accounts and then withdrew up to five thousand dollars from each account. When the men were arrested, police say they found about 24-thousand dollars in their possession. Alleged victims have been contacted, but anyone who believes they're a victim should contact Port Orange Police.

Miami Seaquarium Defies Lease Termination Deadline

(Virginia Key, FL) -- Miami Seaquarium isn't going away quietly. Yesterday was its lease termination deadline, but it was still open. Protesters gathered outside calling for the seaquarium to close to save the animals that reside there. The Seaquarium has been accused of animal neglect. A PETA official says every day this place remains open, these animals' lives are in danger. Miami-Dade County officials haven't said what they'll do next. Legal experts, though, tell NBC 6 the county will probably serve the Seaquarium a final eviction notice to vacate within seven days.

The Dolphin Company, who operates Miami Seaquarium, has filed a federal lawsuit, accusing the county of imposing regulations that unfairly target their operations. Meanwhile, Miami-Dade officials claim the facility has failed to honor agreements and impacted future development plans.
