WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY: Say What?

MANHUNT ON FOR WOULD-BE COP KILLER

The results went back and forth before I went to bed, but Roy Moore appears to have not made it to the US Senate from Alabama.  There are still votes to count, but it appears to be over.

In West Melbourne a traffic stop turned into the bad guy shooting at the officer.  The officer was not hurt and the manhunt is on.  If this guy will shoot at a cop, he would shoot anyone.  Let’s hope he can surrender peacefully.

Talking with a friend Sunday after church we were discussing the loss in quality of the NFL game.  As if they didn’t have enough problems, they now have former players, employees of the league’s network, accused of sexually inappropriate behavior with female coworkers.  One Major League umpire has decided to retire instead of risking more concussions.  Some of those shots off the mask are brutal.

What’s in a word?  Merriam-Webster has a new word of the year.  And while we are talking language, sometimes the message is lost in how you convey what you want to say.  It happened to an Oklahoma University regent.  Then again, I’m not sure he could have said any of his message without blowback, this IS America, after all.

Those stories are all in play on this WIDE OPEN WENDESDAY…but it’s YOUR day, so…
